CAMPING IN J-TREE
Setting up camp in J-Tree?
Joshua Tree National Park is like no other place on earth, with its signature Joshua Trees, giant boulders, and surrounding mountains that create an almost surreal landscape and make you feel like you have entered another world. Camping here is nothing less than spectacular, with scenic campgrounds spread around massive rock formations and sites just perfect for pitching a tent or setting up an RV.
Camping inside the Park

Joshua Tree National Park Campgrounds
Know that Hidden Valley, White Tank, and Belle campgrounds are 1st come, 1st served and fill up quickly on the weekends, holidays and springtime. They are nearly full every weekend from September – May. Hidden Valley, Ryan, and Jumbo Rocks are our personal favorites for camping due to their proximity to stellar climbing options in the park. Indian Cove campground is also an excellent option, especially during colder months of the season (December-February). Remember there are no services or running water in any of the campgrounds, so come prepared!
The majority of the campsites in the park are available by reservation. If you are planning a trip during the holidays or for the spring, we highly recommend reserving a site months in advance.

Undeveloped BLM Land
Coyote Lakebed and Copper Mountain
“This land is your land, this land is my land, from California to the New York islands”
Your public lands, located 5-10 minutes north of Downtown Joshua Tree. The Lakebed is a land of freedom, dirt bikes and guns. Not to say these are bad things, just know what you are getting into. There are no services here.
We recommend camping on the east side of the Lakebed. Drive north off of Hwy 62 on Sunfair Rd. Once the houses peter out on your right (east), start looking to head in and make yourself at home. We do not recommend leaving a campsite up here while you are in the park or elsewhere.
