FLORA & FAUNA
Joshua Tree National Park:
Wildlife
Animals that thrive in Joshua Tree often have special adaptations for dealing with limited water and high summer temperatures. The smaller mammals and all reptiles take refuge from the heat underground.
The Mojave and Sonoran Deserts are a site to behold! With some where in the neighborhood of 2000 different plant species (many of them endemic and numerous species of small mammals, large mammals and a almost uncountable diversity of reptiles and our favorite protected species, the ancient Desert Tortoise.)
Joshua Tree National Park:
Flora
Joshua Tree is renowned for its plant diversity—
there are nearly 750 species of vascular plants found here.
Nearly half of these are annual plants, like many of
the wildflowers that bloom in spring.
