THE DEZ – $$

Takeaway with a classy touch, this little shop boasts a vast array of yummy bites. Pastries, paninis, sandwiches/wraps, charcuterie plates, delicious salads, sweets, snacks and more.

NATURAL SISTERS CAFE – $$

One of our favorite stops en-route to the Park in the mornings. Specializing in vegetarian and vegan food. Look no further for amazing baked goods, gluten free options and incredible coffee and smoothies! See menu.

MAS O MENOS – $$

Located on highway 62 on your way to 29 Palms, Más o Menos is a one-stop-shop offering coffee + light bites by day and cocktails + natural wine by night. See menu.

JT COFFEE CO. – $

Coffee afficionados will be at home here. Quality beans, roasted in-house, and made to any specification under the desert sun. See menu.

JOSHUA TREE SALOON – $$

From fried pub food to shockingly gourmet, this ex dive bar is definitely a tourist and local hang. Owned by Gerard, a long-time local with great vision! Just on the other side of the alley from Cliffhanger World Headquarters – it’s a funky awesome place to eat, drink and people watch! See menu.

SAM’S INDIAN FOOD – $$

Owned and operated by a multi generation Indian family. Authentic cuisine, affordable prices, and probably the most vegetarian friendly sit-down restaurant in town. See menu.

ROADRUNNER GRAB & GO – $$

Our new favorite stop in town! Conveniently located on Park Blvd., it’s the perfect place for anyone who wants a delicious meal without the wait. They have a wide selection of sandwiches, burritos, salads, snacks, coffee, and drinks – all of which are made fresh in the morning and ready to go!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT CAFE – $$

Located on the campus of the Joshua Tree Reatreat Center, Food For Thought specializes in vegetarian and vegan eats. The cafeteria, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1956, and the surrounding lanscape creates a serene environment for visitors to enjoy the deserts beauty. While you’re there check out the retreat center’s calendar! Yoga, movement and mindfulness classes are available to all, ranging in price from Free-$15. See menu.

SANTANAS – $

Santanas (AKA Constanedas) has been serving up burritos to climber dirtbags for decades… Seth lived off of this place for years during his early days in Josh… This may be the last place in town where you can grab a burrito for under $10 and it’ll last you 2 meals. Open 24/7. 

SKY HIGH PIZZA – $$

Artisinal pizza made fresh to order. From your classic 5 Cheese to the decadent Lobster Langostino & Truffle Cheese, and everything in between. Yum! See menu.

PIE FOR THE PEOPLE – $$

LUNA SOURDOUGH BAKERY – $

Old fashioned in a good way, this bakery makes delicious bread from their own sourdough start and organic flour. Sweet/savory pastries and sandwiches are also available. Hours of operation are Thurs-Sun. See menu.

 

FRONTIER CAFE – $

Located in the heart of old town Yucca Valley next to excellent shopping and antique stores. Coffee, beer, wine, and great options for breakfast or lunch. Free wifi available is you need to get some work done too. See menu.

TINY PONY TAVERN – $$

Modern American fare with a non pretentious atmosphere. Full bar, beer on tap, Mon-Fri drink specials, brunch on the weekends.. What’s not to like?! Event space is available to reserve for bdays and special occassions. See menu.

THE COPPER ROOM – $$$

Formerly known as the “Red Baron”, The Copper Room is a landmark bar & lounge at the Yucca Valley airstrip. It has over 50 years of history serving famous actors, musicians and politicians in the high desert. Soak up amazing views as you sip on an expertly crafted cocktail, perhaps as Gram Parsons or Jimmy Van Heusen may have done decades before. See menu.

Mediterranean/Middle Eastern cuisine. Big plates (perfect for groups and families), friendly staff, and vegetarian friendly. See menu.

PIONEERTOWN & LANDERS

PAPPY & HARRIET’S – $$$

The internationally acclaimed music venue serves up some authentic BBQ (the pork chop is a must have) and stays real busy pretty much all the time.  Making reservations a day or two out is a very good idea. See menu.

RED DOG SALOON – $

Another historic watering hole to check out! Originally built in 1946 by Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, Red Dog maintains the classic feel of the Old West. This is a great place to check out live music while sipping a cocktail and eating delicous tacos. See menu.

LA COPINE – $$$

A true gem in the desert, La Copine has a rotating, seasonal menu only using the freshest ingredients. You can taste the attention that is put into each plate of food, it’s well worth the drive! See menu.

GIANT ROCK MEETING ROOM – $

Yummy pizza, live music, LOCAL VIBE… This is where you can escape the tourists and get a taste of desert dwelling culture. Pop in on a Wednesday for Karaoke night or check out some of the local talent that passes through to play. See menu.

TWENTYNINE PALMS

GRND SQRL – $$

Located in downtown Twentynine Palms, Grnd Sqrl offers scratch-made eats, craft beer on tap and all around good vibes. Think elevated burger and beer. See menu.

29 PALMS INN – $$$

Since it’s founding in 1929, the Inn has opened it’s doors to countless visitors and remains a true oasis for desert wildlife. Not exclusively farm-to-table, but much of what you’ll order is grown right behind the restaurant on the 70 acre property. They offer a traditional menu (the mushroom risotto is delicious!), extensive wine list, and plenty of vegetarian options. See menu.

JELLY DONUT – $

Donuts by day and amazing Pho by night, Jelly Donut hits the spot. A local, family owned hole-in-the-wall. Affordable, never too long of a wait, and no one judges you when you order a donut to go along with your soup… ***CASH ONLY***

THE VIRGINIAN – $

The local dive in town. No fancy hats or insta selfies here. Just your regulars drinking coors light and whiskey/coke, small town banter, and fair prices.

MARA – $$$

A great place for date night! Located on the main strip, Mara specializes in high quality ingredients and classic dishes. Lobster Ravioli, Fettuciini Caronara, Tiramasu… Italian lovers rejoice! See menu.

KITCHEN IN THE DESERT – $$$

Founded in 2015 by chef Everton Gordon, this locally owned/run restaurant and bar takes food to the next level! It’s small menu, family style service, Carribean infused flavors and New American Classics. This place gets popular on the weekends and pretty much all the time now, definitely make a reservation. THE RIB CO. – $$

All American BBQ. Done up proper, with all the fixins. See menu.

CAMPBELL HILL BAKERY – $

29’s most popular bakery and breakfast joint, owned by the talented Travis and Nancy Poston. Don’t miss out on the breakfast sandwich!.. Literally, they sell out by 9am. See menu.

OUT THERE BAR – $$

“The last cold drink going East on 62”

Great drinks and good company, this desert dive has a homey feel. Complete with a pool table, shuffle board, outdoor patio, friendly as heck bartenders, and the occasional weekend performer/DJ.

MEXICAN STREET TACOS – $

A Mom & Pop taco shop. The name says it all. Big plus, it’s ajoining the 29 palms bowling alley if you’re looking for some evening fun.

MORONGO VALLEY

SPAGHETTI WESTERN SALOON – $$

After a long hiatus we are super stoked that the Spaghetti Western IS BACK and under new management, Jasmine & Lorenzo! These two hail from Rome, Italy and bring their love of Italian cuisine and hospitality to the desert. The Spaghetti Western is an extension of their home, where each guest can enjoy an emersive experience. SAND TO SNOW MONUMENT BAR & GRILL- $

This hole in the wall is worth a stop on your way out of town. You’ll find a diverse crowd here.. Bikers, rednecks, retirees, and a few drop ins from Jtree. All there for the awesome food, good company and relaxed atmosphere.
