We are pleased to announce a very special event April 19th-21st, 2024 in Joshua Tree. Jordan Cannon is a climbing phenomenon who has been blowing the socks off the climbing world with legions of really fast free ascents of long, remote, and difficult routes such as the “Yosemite Triple Crown” which is El Capitan, Half Dome, and Mt. Watkins in less than 24 hours, the second free ascent of “The Cowboy Direct (Grade VII, 5.13a on the Trango Tower in Pakistan, and the second free ascent of “The Giraffe” (Grade V, 5.13b on Mexico’s notorious El Gran Trono Blanco.

Jordan is not just an exceptionally gifted and driven climber, but a genuinely great human being as well. He found a welcome home in the climbing community and we were all thrilled for him when he publicly came out in 2021.

We asked him to share about his experience as being one of the only openly gay male professional climbers and how his experience has shaped his climbing.

“Climbing means everything to me. It’s given me my passion, my career, and my community. If it wasn’t for the experiences I’ve had or friends I’ve made through climbing, I don’t think I would be the out, confident, and happy person that I am today. Prior to coming out publicly, I was extremely worried that my sexual orientation would impact my ability to be a professional climber, but thanks to the support of my friends and my sponsors, I’m now able to connect with people in a more honest and authentic way, which has made my overall experience way more enjoyable. It’s important to create queer affinity spaces in climbing because most of us are used to being the only gay climber at the crag, and at a certain point, it’s nice to just be surrounded by other people who share a similar experience and not have to worry whether or not we’re going to be judged, misunderstood, or accepted.”

The Jordan Cannon Experience is intended to provide an inclusive space for Queer climbers and allies. All are welcome to join us for 3 magical days of climbing, community-building, and joyful celebration. The weekend begins Friday, April 19th and includes 7 catered meals, onsite camping at the World Famous Sethspool, 2 days of guided climbing in Joshua Tree National Park with Jordan and our team of amazing guides, evening events, and a desert DJ wrap party Sunday night. Cost for this event is $1400 per person. There are 10 slots available plus one scholarship slot that is supported by our wonderful event sponsors, Arc’teryx and Edelrid.
